Productions
Our Spring production ended last night after three wonderful performances, thoroughly enjoyed by enthusiastic audiences. A ‘Month of Sundays’ written by Bob Larbey (The Good Life) and was set in a rest home, with the play revolving around two residents, John Cooper (Rodger Fowler), who has voluntarily left his family to avoid the indignity of depending on them, and his friend Michael Aylott (Tony Powell), both on the verge of some geriatric embarrassment. To the painful ritual of family visits and empty condescension the two inmates replied with humour and wit, aware that life can only be endured if treated as a comedy. Both characters were ably supported by Nurse Wilson ( Lesley Castens), Mrs. Baker ( Barbara Fowler), Julia, Cooper’s daughter ( Corinne Richards) and the son-in-law ( Martin Coles).
The play was directed by the ever enthusiastic and professional Dusty Walker who stated after the last curtain that this play was probably the best ever put on by the group and was a joy to direct. Audiences went away feeling that they had taken a ‘roller coaster ride’ of emotions and left with praise for every member of the Saltford Drama Club production team.
Photo’s of the play can be seen on the pictures section.
